Getting Grounded.

Today was another difficult day… Not just work nonsense but family issues as well. My cousin, whom I have always felt extremely close to, has been diagnosed with cancer and it is apparently worse than we initially thought. My cousin is young, vibrant and overall amazing, and this is a major shock to my entire family. So now I’m left asking the question - what the hell is going on? What the HELL is going on? And I’ve learned throughout my relatively short life that when it rains is pours, and I’ll be honest - I feel like life in general is on the verge of a downpour at this very moment.

So at the end of the day, while I was walking home from work bitching and freaking out about his situation and life in general - I walked past a homeless shelter situated near my subway stop. A man there was waiting patiently to enter the shelter, sitting on a tattered suitcase… When I walked by, he looked up at me and said “Don’t give up.”

I think that pretty much sums it up, doesn’t it? We cannot give up. We must keep going. My cousin will and must fight this, and I will be there to support him and my family in all capacities.

Life is crazy, but we must Never Give Up.
